Eco-chic wedding favours that are totally unique are hard to find. When we saw Keep This Cracker, we just had to share it with you. This great idea can be used as a place setting, or could be used as something that could hold your confetti, or even to give your evening guests a slice of cake in. This eco-friendly wedding favour leaves no paper waste and guests can take it home and use it again. It just goes to show that a cracker isn’t only for Christmas!
The talented lady behind this great product is Bea Thackeray and she is here to tell you all a bit about her very clever cracker!
What is Keep This Cracker and how does it work?
‘Keep This Cracker‘ is an eco-friendly alternative to the disposable party cracker. It snaps like a standard cracker but slides open without tearing, so you can re-use it. Simply replace the broken snap with a new one.

Couples looking for a new idea for their favours? We have the answer… our Wedding Favour Gift Box Crackers also pull open without tearing, so guests can take them away and keep them as mementos of the special day. Offered in a selection of designs printed silver on white, and with a choice of 20 ribbon colours to match to any theme.
Where did the name come from?
That has been one of the hardest initial challenges in setting up my own business. I quickly binned the idea of using puns as I couldn’t think of anything clever enough and have since learned that it’s a bad idea. Although it might be funny the first time round, it’s bound to get tiresome. So I decided to describe the product instead. It’s my intention that the name should entice people to want to find out more, after all, why would you keep a cracker?
Who are the faces behind the name?
It is just me, Bea Thackeray. I am the designer/inventor and owner of ‘Keep This Cracker’. Some years ago I gave myself the challenge to design a reusable alternative to the disposable cracker, and launched my first designs in 2013. I produce all the designs in my studio in Yorkshire and now supply nationwide.
What makes you eco-friendly?
Did you know it’s estimated that over 100 million crackers are pulled at Christmas time in the UK alone?! Just 12 million of these laid end-to-end could stretch from the UK to the North Pole! Crackers by ‘Keep This Cracker’ are different, you can reuse them. We use less packaging as our Re-usable Crackers come flat-packed and ready-made, just pop them into shape and fill them with your own gifts. They are made in the UK using FSC board (a mixed source of recycled material), and are fully recyclable once they’ve been re-used a few times.
What are your top tips to couples planning their day?
Enjoy it. It’s a great way of expressing your personalities and making it special to you. Don’t let people sway you. I was warned that red and white flowers were bad luck, I’m still married and for longer than I wish to disclose!
What are your selling points to couples?
Couples who have used our crackers for favour carriers are particularly pleased that there is less mess left on the tables! Guests are more than happy to take them away as mementos. They love to choose their own fillers and gifts, such as chocolates and sweets. Our customers show a lot of imagination. One couple filled theirs with real petal confetti, their guests formed an arch and pulled the crackers while the couple passed through. The crackers can also be used to put slices of wedding cake in, to be presented at the end of the evening.
NEW IN… The latest addition to our Wedding collection are crackers that can double up as place-names. They come with removable printed sleeves with a space to add the guests’ names. We also personalise them by incorporating the couple’s names and date of the event into the design. With a choice of 20 colours with matching ribbons to suit any theme.
COMING SOON… We are offering an additional service offering matching thank you cards, menus, order of service and other wedding stationery in a matching design to the Place-name Crackers. These will also be available in 20 colours.
What has been your highlight as business so far?
I’m really proud that my ‘Hellebore’ design was a Finalist in the ‘Gift of the Year’ awards 2015. (Giftware Association UK). Then in August 2016 ‘Keep This Cracker’ was picked by Theo Paphitis as a winner in the #SBS Small Business Sunday Award.
Massive congratulations to Bea on the success of her company so far. She did not mention she has also featured in many well know magazines! We have lots of themes that match the colours of Bea’s crackers, so her product would be a perfect accompaniment to your Paperless Wedding design.
